SUTTER RANCH TNR PROJECT
End 20 Years of Heartache—Right Now, With Your Help!
For two decades, cats on a rural ranch property lived in distress, leaving many to perish.
What began as a few unsterilized cats brought in for rodent control quickly spiraled out of control. As you can see from the photos, the population exploded—generation after generation born into harsh conditions.
In 2023, the property changed owners.
By early 2024, the first kitten—Sutter—was found barely clinging to life.
She was cold, limp, and barely breathing. Covered in fleas and parasites, severely malnourished, dehydrated and injured, Sutter was assumed dead.
But something in her shifted when she was gently picked up—
her body weak, but her will to live undeniable.
She was rushed into the care of a Mission Meow foster,
where she received intensive medical treatment for her life-threatening infections.
Day by day, Sutter began to fight.
She opened her eyes.
She ate on her own.
She purred.
Weeks later, she was playing with toys and curling up in her foster’s lap.
And after months of healing, Sutter was officially adopted by her foster family—
the first life saved from a property filled with despair. See here incredible before and after!
That’s when Mission Meow stepped in.
Inspired by Sutter, we launched a large-scale TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) campaign
and began rescuing the kittens young enough to be saved.
Many were just like Sutter—sick, starving, and barely hanging on.
With months of foster care and intensive medical treatment,
25 kittens have now been fixed, healed, and rehomed. 46 cats have been TNR'd or found new barn homes.
