We work alongside shelters and communities to fill critical gaps in care, stepping in for cats who require specialized, individualized support beyond what traditional systems are designed to provide.
Filling Critical Gaps for Cats Who Have Nowhere Else to Go
Mission Meow Cat Rescue & Adoptions, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving cats and communities throughout the greater Sacramento and Placer County region since 2017. Our organization was founded after witnessing critical gaps in the animal welfare system—where vulnerable cats were falling through with no safety net.
Without intervention, many of these cats would not survive.
We exist to ensure these cats are not left behind.
Mission Meow steps in for cats and kittens at the highest risk of euthanasia or neglect—including fragile neonatal kittens, senior cats, and those with complex medical or special needs. These cats require a level of individualized care that traditional shelter environments aren’t designed to provide.
Through our foster-based model, close medical oversight, and patient socialization, each cat is given the time, stability, and individualized support needed to heal, grow, and ultimately find a loving home.
For cats whose medical or behavioral needs make adoption unlikely, our commitment does not end. These cats remain in Mission Meow’s care as permanent residents, living safely in dedicated foster homes where their ongoing medical and quality-of-life needs are supported for the rest of their lives.
At the same time, we place healthy, highly adoptable cats through a thoughtful, personalized adoption process—ensuring every match is the right fit for both the cat and their new family.
As a community-supported, donor-funded organization, Mission Meow operates independently of municipal contracts. This allows us to respond quickly and compassionately—providing both immediate lifesaving care and long-term, prevention-focused solutions such as Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) where the need is greatest across multiple communities in California.
Highly Personalized Adoptions
In addition to lifesaving intervention, we place healthy, highly adoptable cats into homes where they can truly thrive.
Because our cats are raised in private foster homes, we’re able to understand each one’s personality, behavior, and unique needs on a deeper level. Every cat receives individualized medical and behavioral care, allowing us to make thoughtful, intentional matches that support both the cat and their adopter for long-term success—earning us a reputation as true “Meow Matchmakers.”
We pride ourselves on a highly personalized adoption experience. From the first inquiry through post-adoption guidance, we’re here every step of the way. Many of our adopters stay connected long after adoption, becoming part of the Mission Meow family.
Breaking the Cycle at Its Source
While traditional shelters are designed to respond to animals entering their doors, prevention-focused solutions like Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) often fall outside their capacity.
Mission Meow fills that gap through proactive intervention.
We prioritize targeted spay/neuter and Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) initiatives to address the root cause of cat overpopulation. By focusing on underserved communities with limited access to animal rescue resources, we help stabilize community cat populations and prevent thousands of future births—reducing suffering before it begins.
We actively engage with these communities to provide TNR services, spay and neuter owned pets, and offer additional educational and practical support.
What Sets Mission Meow Apart
Mission Meow exists to provide care and solutions for cats who fall outside the scope of traditional shelter resources.
As a foster-based, volunteer-driven organization operating independently of municipal contracts, we are able to respond quickly to urgent and underserved cases while also investing in long-term, prevention-focused solutions.
This flexibility allows us to:
• Provide specialized care for neonatal, medical, and high-risk cats
• Offer home-based foster environments that support recovery, comfort, and a true understanding of each cat’s needs
• Create thoughtful, lasting adoption matches through a personalized, relationship-driven approach
• Implement targeted Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs that address overpopulation at its source
Together, these efforts allow Mission Meow to bridge the gap between immediate rescue and long-term prevention—creating a more compassionate, effective, and sustainable approach to animal welfare.
A More Sustainable Approach to Animal Welfare
Together with our volunteers, partners, and supporters, Mission Meow is helping shift animal welfare from reactive rescue to proactive prevention.
By addressing systemic gaps and investing in community-based spay/neuter solutions, we are building a sustainable safety net—one that reduces suffering, stabilizes community cat populations, and creates lasting, humane outcomes for both animals and the communities they share.
Be the reason this work continues.
As a privately supported organization, everything we do is made possible by people who choose to step in and help. When you donate, you are directly providing medical care, safe foster placement, and a second chance for cats who would otherwise have nowhere to go.
Donate today and be part of their future.
