TNR

Trap-Neuter-Return

Mission Meow Cat Rescue & Adoptions, Inc. is dedicated to humane Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs that reduce overpopulation and suffering among community cats. Our expert volunteers humanely trap unowned cats, transport them for spay/neuter, vaccination, and medical care, and return them to their outdoor homes where they’re monitored and cared for. One of our most significant projects, the Sutter Ranch TNR initiative, transformed a rural property that had endured decades of unchecked breeding. Over multiple years, we trapped, sterilized, vaccinated, and rehomed or returned hundreds of cats—ending a cycle of suffering and neglect. We focus on underserved areas where affordable veterinary access is limited, providing education, supplies, and support for colony caretakers. Every sterilized cat represents fewer litters born into hardship—and fewer kittens facing homelessness or euthanasia. Mission Meow is creating lasting, humane change for community cats.

Compassionate

Community Assistance

Mission Meow Community Assistance Program is committed to keeping pets and families together through our Community Assistance Program, which helps low-income individuals and families care for their beloved cats during times of hardship. Rather than seeing pets surrendered to shelters, we provide practical, compassionate support—such as pet food, litter, emergency veterinary care, and temporary housing assistance. Our goal is to remove barriers that force families to give up their animals by offering resources, education, and connections to affordable care. Many of our recipients are seniors, people facing medical or financial crises, or residents of underserved communities with limited access to help. By supporting these seniors and families, we not only prevent unnecessary shelter surrenders but also promote humane, long-term stability for both cats and caretakers. Mission Meow believes that no one should have to choose between feeding themselves and keeping their pet.

Forever Homes
Adoption Program

We operate a compassionate, foster-based Adoption Program dedicated to finding loving, permanent homes for cats and kittens of all ages—including seniors and those with medical or special needs. Our cats are never housed in cages; instead, they live in volunteer foster homes where they receive individualized care, socialization, and medical attention to help them thrive. Each cat is fully vetted, vaccinated, spayed or neutered, microchipped, and matched to adopters through a thoughtful, relationship-based process that prioritizes lifelong placement success. We educate adopters on behavior, nutrition, and post-adoption support, ensuring smooth transitions. Our approach fills the gaps left by larger shelters, focusing on vulnerable cats who need extra time or medical care to become adoption-ready. Through our foster network and dedicated volunteers, we create countless happy endings—one adoption at a time.

Complex Medical & Special Needs Program

We operate a targeted Special Needs Program designed to serve cats and kittens with medical, congenital, and functional challenges that significantly reduce their likelihood of placement through traditional shelter pathways. Mission Meow is structurally positioned to provide the extended observation, individualized care, and home-based rehabilitation that medically vulnerable felines require. The program prioritizes cases that are commonly declined or euthanized in high-volume systems due to resource constraints, including neonatal kittens with complications, senior cats with chronic medical conditions, and those with sensory or mobility impairments. Whenever possible, Mission Meow works toward stabilization and adoption into carefully matched homes. However, when a cat’s medical or behavioral needs make adoption unlikely, these cats may become permanent residents in our care.

Helping the Helpers Initiative

We recognize that some of the most important animal welfare work is performed by independent rescuers, community cat caretakers, Good Samaritans, and small rescue organizations operating with limited resources. Our Helping the Helpers Initiative strengthens these grassroots efforts by providing targeted financial assistance, veterinary support, resources, and collaborative partnerships that help vulnerable cats receive the care they need. Through our Good Samaritan Veterinary Assistance Program, we may assist individuals who have rescued abandoned, injured, or at-risk cats by helping coordinate or subsidize essential veterinary services, including spay/neuter procedures, vaccinations, and other approved medical care. By supporting those already working on the front lines of animal welfare, Mission Meow can extend its impact beyond the cats directly in our care, prevent unnecessary suffering, reduce pressure on overcrowded shelters, and strengthen the network of people dedicated to humane solutions. Our philosophy is simple: Helping the helpers means helping more cats. All assistance is discretionary and subject to available funding, veterinary resources, program eligibility, and organizational capacity.
