Before Forever: Why We’re Sharing More of the Rescue Story

Every adoption photo has a before.

Before the happy update, before the carrier ride home, before the curled-up couch naps and the new name tags and the “they’re already part of the family” messages, there is another part of the story.

There is the moment someone notices a cat outside and decides not to look away.

There is the foster who makes space in a spare room, bathroom, office, or quiet corner of their home.

There are the tiny meals, the clean blankets, the vet appointments, the medications, the late-night check-ins, the socializing, the patience, the paperwork, the fundraising, the transport, and the quiet hope that this little life will get the chance they deserve.

That is the part of rescue we want to share more of here.

Mission Meow has always been about more than finding cats homes. It is about building a community around the belief that vulnerable cats deserve safety, care, and a future. Sometimes that future starts with a foster home. Sometimes it starts with TNR. Sometimes it starts with a donor who makes a medical appointment possible. Sometimes it starts with a person sharing a post, asking a question, or choosing to get involved for the first time.

This blog will be a place for those stories.

We’ll share adoption journeys, foster reflections, rescue education, behind-the-scenes updates, community impact, and practical resources for people who want to help cats but may not know where to begin.

We also want this space to feel honest. Rescue is beautiful, but it is not always simple. It can be emotional, demanding, joyful, heartbreaking, hopeful, and deeply worth it all at once. Every cat who comes through rescue carries their own story, and every person who helps them becomes part of that story too.

Our hope is that this blog helps you feel closer to the work your support makes possible.
